Perfume: the story of a murderer by Patrick Suskind

I couldn’t stop thinking about this book until long after I’d finished it.

 I really liked this book.

Plot summary: In 18th Century Paris, Jean-Baptiste Grenouille was born in the slums without any odour. However, he does have an extraordinary sense of smell of superpower proportions, which leads him to abominable deeds. An antihero using his superpower for evil instead of good.

The motion picture adaptation was released by  Dreamworks Constantin in 2006, starring Ben Whitshaw, Alan Rickman, Rachel Hurd-Wood, Dustin Hoffman. source: Wikipedia

Reviews: (This is not a review but as good as) “Perfume is a long-lasting international success story: Originally published in 1985 and translated into 54 languages, the book has sold more than 20 million copies worldwide. In Germany, the book spent 9 years on the Spiegel bestseller list. The movie adaptation of 2006 was one of the 15 most successful in German cinema history, with 5.6 million box office viewers in Germany alone.” Diogenes Publisher
